Filmstock was a great festival and Mike and I had a wonderful time. I
personally saw all the shorts shown (over 120!) and many were outstanding.
The festival was well programmed. Red Lion was shown on the last day in the
next to last session. The little hand key chains we gave out were a big hit
and created lots of buzz. The film got a good response but we didn't win any
prizes. That's okay though. Just getting to England with the film and
meeting everybody there was prize enough. I can't say enough about the two
young guys who run the festival, Neil and Justin. They started this festival
while they were teenagers and they've kept it going these past six years.
Bravo guys! All the staff and the volunteers and the festival goers as well
were as nice as can be. There were even some USC filmmakers there that we
got to meet too. All in all it was a great time. It's no wonder that people
come back to Luton for Filmstock even though they have no films to screen.
The atmosphere was so friendly and fun. After the final session of the day,
in fact, some 30 to 40 of us would go out to eat and have a blast. Plus I
got to see a little bit of London which I'd never been to before. So, now
it's back home and onward and upward.
